Building a Strong Board Can Be a Little Like Piecing Together a Puzzle.

Today’s church requires special attention to how we are building our church leadership teams. Regardless of denomination or church structure, the data shows a clear need to be cultivating a strong leadership path. From how we identify, prepare, and recruit leaders to engaging in succession planning, intentionality is critical.

Pulling from what we have learned about the generational divide, our Focal Points Assessment, and the Congregational Assessment Tool, we will do what we do best and dig into the data.

What the Data tells Us about the Generational Divide and Church

Out of the hundreds of mainstream denominational congregations who have taken the Congregation Assessment Tool (CAT) since 2019, HC!C looked at 110 congregations who responded to a question about which generation they were a part of, to see what can be learned from that data.  This data set was comprised of 11,408 individual responses.  Within those responses 24% were of the Silent Generation, 49% were Baby Boomers, 15% Gen X, 10% Millennials and 2% Gen Z (not all Gen Z are of age to take the CAT).

This webinar focused on the three areas that generations are experiencing differently within their church: music, connection/hospitality and ministry. It also looked at how to think about those experiences and adapt to the needs of the people your congregation wants to serve.
